In keeping with our philosophy of embracing the local culture, we have sourced an authentic traditional Beruga and three authentic Joglos which are historical Javanese houses. These Joglos have been hand carved from teak using ancient methods, to convey a unique simplicity and ambiance.
Each Joglo is designed for two. Furnishings are simple yet traditionally elegant and you have a welcoming front verandah for relaxing and catching the island breezes. Our comfortable, quality queen size beds are covered in fresh, white linen and surrounded with a large white mosquito net.
The ambience of the Joglo’s, combined with the solitude and peace of nature will give you a wonderful, restful night’s sleep. Making the most of our tropical environment Atlantis, Nautilus and Atena have private, open air bathrooms. All bathrooms though, are western styled and have a generously sized shower with plenty of on demand hot water and excellent water pressure.
We are an Eco-Friendly, sustainable oasis. Our water comes from the on-site 80m deep well that draws from the 3rd aquifir. Ten meters of clay, one of the best natural filters, sits directly above the aquifir. The water has been tested (Australia) and has no contamination and is rich in minerals so we drink it directly from the taps. This means guests do not need to rely on bottled water, thereby reducing the resulting plastic bottle waste which has become such a damaging environmental issue for the island: our water is free.
The most recent western models of bio- septic systems and water resource management practices are employed with beneficial eco-friendly results. We have developed a harmonious relationship with the local community while building Gypsea Yoga Eco Retreat: all of our employees live in the local village and we are learning to grow together by sharing our different cultural approaches and by exchanging and integrating western and Indonesian lifestyles.
Is This The Place For You?
Gypsea Yoga Eco Retreat offers a peaceful, remote, quiet retreat set in amongst a beautiful garden and a valley surrounded by thousands of hectares of Protected Forest. We are 1km from a pure white sandy beach of crystal clear turquoise water and one of the most breathtaking coastal roads dotted with many 5 star resorts. Fifteen minutes from Senggigi is where you will find the markets, cafes and night spots but we are best suited for long term travellers/digital nomads needing a “home away from home”, to stop, ponder and reflect.
Having 24/7 access to a clean, modern shared kitchen allows you to cook your own food. Make yourself comfortable by enjoying your own cooked meals in our cosy, homely, lounge/eating hub with excellent Wi-Fi. We are most suited to guests who enjoy a quiet, spiritual healthy place to rest and unwind, and practice their yoga. You will find company most any time in our warm, homely lounge/eating hub as we get an interesting mix of guests from all over the world, and often you will find someone to talk to.
Note that we are not a hostel (nominal surcharges apply to use of kitchen) and are not able to cater to individual daily activity needs but will assist as much as we can. If you need, there are many international 5 star resorts along the coast nearby that offer outstanding menus with exquisite meals.
